Richard Liu (Qiangdong Liu) has been the CEO of JD.com since its founding in 2004. He established JD.com as an e-commerce business dedicated to providing consumers with the best possible shopping experience, online or off. From day 1 his vision was to provide authentic products to customers at amazing speeds.
Today the company is known for its strict zero tolerance policy toward counterfeits and same- and next-day delivery that covers an area with a population of more than 1 billion people.
Under Mr. Liu’s leadership, JD.com listed on NASDAQ in June of 2014 and in 2016 it became the first Chinese Internet company to make the Fortune 500 List. He has also been named to Fortune’s list of the “World’s Greatest Leaders.”
He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Renmin University in Beijing.
Lei Xu is Chief Marketing Officer of JD.com and CEO of JD Mall, responsible for the development and strategy of the company’s core e-commerce business. He joined JD in January 2009.
Mr. Xu has held several leadership roles in JD’s sales and marketing divisions, including head of marketing and branding, head of JD Wireless, and head of JD’s marketing and platform operations. Under his leadership the company rebranded as JD.com, and also adopted its mascot, Joy. Mr. Xu is also responsible for the launch of JD Plus, China’s first paid-for-membership service in the e-commerce industry, as well as JD’s Super Brand Day strategic marketing program. He also leads JD’s Kepler open platform, which leverages JD’s strengths in logistics, marketing, finance, and other areas to empower partners to expand their business opportunities online, and is a key pillar of JD’s Retail as a Service strategy.
Prior to joining JD, Mr. Xu held several senior roles in marketing and operations at Lenovo, Allyes and Belle E-Commerce.
Mr. Xu holds an EMBA degree from China Europe International Business School.
Zhenhui Wang is the CEO of JD Logistics, an integrated supply chain management solutions provider. He joined JD in April 2010.
Under his leadership, JD Logistics has expanded rapidly both in terms of scale and breadth of operations. JD Logistics covers a wide range of services and solutions, including supply chain management, cold chain, express and after-sales service, as well as cross-border logistics.
Mr. Wang previously served as a senior vice president of JD.com and the head of JD’s fulfillment operations. Prior to that, he led the company’s smart devices business, where he built the JD+ smart ecosystem, the predecessor of JD’s current smart services platform, Alpha. Prior to that, Mr. Wang served as regional head, in charge of logistics operations in North China.
Prior to joining JD, Mr. Wang served as Head of National Business Operations at Eternal Asia Supply Chain Co. from 2008 to 2010, and as General Manager of Business Sales at Lenovo from 1999 to 2007.
Mr. Wang holds a bachelor of engineering degree from the University of Science and Technology Beijing and an EMBA from China Europe International Business School.
Dr. Jon Jianwen Liao is Chief Strategy Officer of JD.com. He joined JD in April 2017.
Dr. Liao oversees the development of JD’s global strategy, innovation, and corporate development. He is focused on defining the strategy that drives innovation for customers, pursuing new strategic markets and business areas, and building strategic partnerships with online and offline players as well as technology providers across JD’s ecosystem.
Prior to joining JD, Dr. Liao served as Professor of Strategy and Innovation and Associate Dean at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business. Widely recognized as an expert in strategy and innovation, Dr. Liao has over 20 years’ of experience in academic research and consulting on global strategy and execution, including digital technologies, business development, strategic planning and organizational transformation across North America and Asia. He was instrumental in transforming executive education in China. He also led a wide range of strategic consulting initiatives and advised several leading institutions and small- to mid-sized companies on their digital transformation efforts. He currently serves on the board of several companies, including 361˚, China Unicom and Yonghui, among others. He is a frequent speaker at industry events and is regularly quoted in business publications.
Dr. Liao holds a Ph. D. in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University, a master of arts in Economics from Renmin University, and a bachelor of engineering in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University.
Sidney Xuande Huang has served as the chief financial officer of JD.com since his appointment in September 2013.
Prior to joining JD.com, he served as CFO for VanceInfo Technologies Inc., an NYSE-listed IT services provider, and its successor company, Pactera Technology International Ltd, from 2006 to 2013. He also served as the co-president of VanceInfo Technologies Inc. from 2011 to 2012, and its chief operating officer from 2008 to 2010. Prior to VanceInfo Technologies, Sidney served as CFO at two other China-based companies in the technology and internet sectors between 2004 and 2006.
Sidney is currently a director of Bitauto Holdings Limited, an internet company listed on the NYSE.
Sidney earned an MBA with distinction from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University as an Austin Scholar. He graduated from Bernard M. Baruch College as class valedictorian with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Rain Yu Long is the chief human resources officer and general counsel of JD.com. She was appointed in August 2012 and heads the company’s legal and talent management functions.
Prior to joining JD.com, she served as senior vice president, general counsel, and chief compliance officer of UTStarcom Holdings Corp., a NASDAQ-listed provider of interactive, IP-based network solutions, and as the APAC Legal Affairs Director for the Switzerland-listed Myriad Group AG where she was also a member of the China Executive Management Team.
Rain graduated from Southwest Political and Law University in Chongqing with a bachelor’s degree in economic law and holds an EMBA from the China Europe International Business School. She is a qualified attorney in the People’s Republic of China.
Ye Lan is the chief public affairs officer of JD.com. He was appointed in August 2015 and oversees a number of key operational areas including public policy and external stakeholder relations. Prior to his current role, he served as JD.com’s chief marketing officer, leading the procurement, sales and public policy teams.
Ye has over 18 years of experience in sales and marketing in the Greater China region. Prior to joining JD.com, he served as executive vice president at Acer Group from 2010 to 2012, as president and chief executive officer of Founder Technology Group Corporation, a China-based computer producer listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and as vice president of sales at Lenovo Group.
He holds an EMBA degree from Tsinghua University in Beijing.
Chen Zhang is the CTO of JD.com, in charge of driving R&D growth in big data and cloud computing, as well as technical support for the daily operation of JD Mall. Chen has over 20 years of experience in software development and management.
Prior to joining JD.com, he worked at Yahoo for 18 years, at one point responsible for the development of Yahoo Messenger and more recently heading the global research and development center at Yahoo Beijing. Before that, he worked in DEC and Oracle Corporation as head of technology.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Indiana University Bloomington.
Yayun Li is Chief Compliance Officer of JD.com, overseeing compliance and internal audits, as well as information security. She joined JD in December 2007.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Li served as Vice President of JD’s compliance department from 2013 to 2016, where she developed a strong ethics and compliance program predicated on a “zero-tolerance” policy towards counterfeits and promoted a companywide culture of integrity by launching fraud prevention training, a whistle-blower program and an internal fraud investigation framework. She has also been responsible for establishing effective compliance and internal controls to meet U.S. listing requirements since 2014. Prior to her role in compliance, Ms. Li served as the head of JD’s legal team.
Ms. Li holds a master’s degree in Law from Renmin University and an EMBA from China Europe International Business School.
