Richard Liu (Qiangdong Liu) has been the chief executive officer of JD.com since its founding in 2004. He established JD.com as an e-commerce business dedicated to providing consumers with the best possible shopping experience, online or off. From day 1 his vision was to provide authentic products to customers at amazing speeds.
Today the company is known for its strict zero tolerance policy toward counterfeits and same- and next-day delivery that covers an area with a population of more than 1 billion people.
Under Mr. Liu’s leadership, JD.com listed on NASDAQ in June of 2014 and in 2016 it became the first Chinese Internet company to make the Fortune 500 List. He has also been named to Fortune’s list of the “World’s Greatest Leaders.”
He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Renmin University in Beijing.
Lei Xu is the chief executive officer of JD Retail, responsible for the development, operation and strategy of the company’s retail business, both online and offline.
Since joining JD in 2009, Mr. Xu has held several leadership roles within the sales and marketing divisions of JD’s retail business, including head of marketing and branding, head of JD Wireless, and head of JD’s marketing and platform operations. Under his leadership, the company successfully rebranded itself from 360buy to JD.com and launched its popular mascot, Joy. Mr. Xu was responsible for the launch of JD Plus, the first paid membership service in China’s e-commerce industry, as well as JD’s Super Brand Day strategic marketing program. He also leads JD’s Kepler open platform, a key pillar of JD’s Retail as a Service strategy that leverages JD’s strengths in logistics, marketing, finance, and other areas to help partners to expand their online businesses.
Before joining JD, Mr. Xu held several senior roles in marketing and operations at Lenovo, Allyes and Belle E-Commerce.
Mr. Xu holds an EMBA degree from China Europe International Business School.
Zhenhui Wang is the chief executive officer of JD Logistics, an integrated supply chain management solutions provider. He joined JD in April 2010.
Under his leadership, JD Logistics has expanded rapidly both in terms of scale and breadth of operations. JD Logistics covers a wide range of services and solutions, including supply chain management, cold chain, express and after-sales service, as well as cross-border logistics.
Mr. Wang previously served as a senior vice president of JD.com and the head of JD’s fulfilment operations. Prior to that, he led the company’s smart devices business, where he built the JD+ smart ecosystem, the predecessor of JD’s IoT platform. Prior to that, Mr. Wang served as regional head, in charge of logistics operations in North China.
Prior to joining JD, Mr. Wang served as head of National Business Operations at Eternal Asia Supply Chain Co. from 2008 to 2010, and as general manager of business sales at Lenovo from 1999 to 2007.
Mr. Wang holds an EMBA from China Europe International Business School and a bachelor of engineering degree from the University of Science and Technology Beijing.
Jon Liao is the chief strategy officer of JD.com. In this role, Liao spearheads JD’s strategic planning, partnerships, investment, innovation and global government relations.
Liao’s work is at the center of JD’s transformation into a technology and service company with retail at its core, and he has been a fundamental driver of Retail as a Service. Previously, he advised China’s top CEOs for years as Associate Dean at CKGSB. He currently serves on the board of several companies, including Farfetch, 361˚, China Unicom and Yonghui Superstores, among others.
Previously residing in the Greater Chicago region of the United States, Liao holds a Ph. D. in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University, a master of arts in Economics from Renmin University, and a bachelor of engineering in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University.
Sidney Xuande Huang has served as the chief financial officer of JD.com since his appointment in September 2013.
Prior to joining JD.com, he served as CFO for VanceInfo Technologies Inc., an NYSE-listed IT services provider, and its successor company, Pactera Technology International Ltd, from 2006 to 2013. He also served as the co-president of VanceInfo Technologies Inc. from 2011 to 2012, and its chief operating officer from 2008 to 2010. Prior to VanceInfo Technologies, Sidney served as CFO at two other China-based companies in the technology and internet sectors between 2004 and 2006.
Sidney is currently a director of Bitauto Holdings Limited, an internet company listed on the NYSE.
Sidney earned an MBA with distinction from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University as an Austin Scholar. He graduated from Bernard M. Baruch College as class valedictorian with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Yayun Li is the chief compliance officer of JD.com, overseeing compliance and internal audits, legal, intellectual property, information security and government affairs. She joined JD in December 2007.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Li served as vice president of JD’s compliance department from 2013 to 2016, where she developed a strong ethics and compliance program predicated on a “zero-tolerance” policy towards counterfeits and promoted a companywide culture of integrity by launching fraud prevention training, a whistle-blower program and an internal fraud investigation framework. She has also been responsible for establishing effective compliance and internal controls to meet U.S. listing requirements since 2014. Prior to her role in compliance, Ms. Li served as the head of JD’s legal team.
Ms. Li holds a master’s degree in Law from Renmin University and an EMBA from China Europe International Business School.
Rui Yu is the chief human resources officer of JD.com, responsible for the company’s staffing, recruitment, talent management and all other HR related functions, as well as digitalization of internal systems and corporate communications.
Mr. Yu joined JD.com in 2008 and has held significant management roles within the company’s retail and logistics divisions. He most recently served as head of JD.com’s customer experience and service department, where he led the development of the company’s customer-facing retail initiatives, with a particular focus on customer engagement. In 2016, when JD took ownership of the assets of online Chinese grocery platform Yihaodian, Mr. Yu was named Yihaodian CEO. In his role, he successfully led the integration and reorganization of Yihaodian’s business. Mr. Yu has also previously served as head of both the Central China and East China logistics units, where he was instrumental in helping to steer the fast-paced and industry leading development of JD’s logistics business.
Mr. Yu holds an EMBA from China Europe International Business School and a bachelor of laws from China University of Political Science and Law.
